David Tutera Commercial Shoot

The end of the year came fast and action packed at Maring Studios filled with everything from holiday portraits, to weddings, to celebrity and commercial shoots. We are taking a little break now through Jan. 1st to get our lives back in order, and have big plans for 2013 on all fronts.

We were psyched to get the call to photograph celebrity wedding planner, author, and television show host David Tutera once again this fall. As many of you know he has been a client of ours now for over a decade and calls on us when it matters most. His team came to us with a studio based project to capture images for a wide range of new products that David has been evolving including wedding gowns, jewelry, software, and party ideas. The shoot lasted a good 12 hours or so, and took place in at a penthouse studio in Manhattan. Their team also asked if we could capture some behind the scenes footage of the shoot as well for PR and social media purposes, hence the video we share above. As you can see, our commercial studio shoots are a lot of fun to say the least.

We look forward to ramping up our blogging efforts again as 2013 takes off, and look forward to sharing projects throughout the year. Have a blessed New Years Eve everyone!

The High Line NYC

Since we have had live/work space in Chelsea righ next to The High Line Park since before it's creation, we have seen this incredible project come to life over the past 12 years. We always make it a point to document history unfolding in NYC because it changes so quickly. Now with endless photographs, motion picture, and time lapse films under our belts we are putting this personal project to good use by launching a creative interactive app called HighLine Magazine.

Our goal to create a successful interactive publication that works on all mobile devices that will be brimming with gorgeous photography, information, ideas, and stories on the people, places and culture that makes up this incredible corner of the world.

For now, we have created a website teaser sharing some of what's to come at www.highlinemagazine.com. We are also on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter as well. Join us and help bring this creative idea to life by liking our pages and fueling our fire with ideas. Currently we are seeking partners, sponsors, and investors to help make this the best it can be. Most certainly this will happen with just our own efforts, but we all know that there is power in team work. So, feel free to reach out to us with ideas!

We should mention that this has no bearing on our mission as photographers. Rather this is just a creative extension of the personal work we do already. We always push aspiring photographers to do personal work on the side because it helps you grow and serve your clients better creatively. This is just another exciting way to re-purpose our work and share it with the world!

Marqués De Riscal and the Basque Wine Region

Earlier this year we had an exciting assignment in Elciego, Spain and the Basque Wine Region. The assignment centered around a gorgeous 5 Star Hotel designed by Frank Gehry and Marqués de Riscal Vineyard and Winery. To say this location is spectacular is an under statement. This modern hotel overlooks a gorgeous old world town know as The City of Wine. Here is a short time lapse film we created as part of the assignment. The structure you see being blown up is known as a Lumitarium, which was brought by renowned Event Planner Shawn Rabideau and the creators Architects of Air.

Trees and Ink Update

I am thrilled to share a trailer for a recent film I shot with Director Ethan Black, starring Khaled Quazz. The film was shot on the Canon 5D Mark II last winter, and it's out of production and getting submitted to film festivals now. It's a great concept and story written by Khaled Quazz, who also produced and created the song in the trailer. I haven't gotten a chance to see the final tweaks and edits yet myself, but I am looking forward to seeing this on the big screen.

Bride's Guide to a Picture Perfect Wedding

We are excited today to announce the launch of a gorgeous wedding planning app that is now available in the iTunes store called "Bride's Guide to a Picture Perfect Wedding". For nearly 20 years we have worked, literally alongside couples, during both the wedding planning process and at the actual wedding and yes we have been taking notes. With that said, we know more about the inner workings of real weddings than just about any other expert you could find. We put this knowledge to use, and our clients definitely benefit from it. But, now we are sharing it, no holds barred, with the entire world via this amazing iPad app.

The app is filled with over 300 gorgeous photographs so there is plenty of eye candy. However most important is that the tips and ideas inside are useful and meaningful as well so the app stretches far beyond visual inspirations alone. We hope you'll visit the app store and download the publication. We are excited and confident that many of the ideas expressed will be extremely helpful in both the planning process, and on the wedding day itself.

Special thanks to all of our amazing clients, friends, and fellow wedding professionals who graced the pages of this book / app. We know that your moments and experience will inspire couples and help them to create the wedding of their dreams.
