Time, most certainly changes
Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 11:22AM So many conversations about the convergence if video and still imagery goes one of two ways. Some, even gurus of still photography, refuse to see the writing on the wall or the possibilities. Others, including some well known top pros, have already adopted and adapted. This post isn't to say that now is the time, or even that another photographer's opinion on the subject isn't valid. Fact is, photographers have the choice to jump in when they are ready or see a need. But, we as professionals can't turn a blind eye to this, and I think this is about as much proof as anyone needs that it's time to keep a close eye on the possibilities.
I was reading a post this Thanksgiving morning at PDN Pulse about a video shot on RED ONE at Pier 59 Studios in New York. This is just a simple video of a baby crying. The fact that the video was created isn't all that amazing, but what is amazing is that TIME Magazine used a video grab off of the shoot for the cover of the magazine. This marks a major shift in thinking on how the industry will change over the next few years.
Check out this clip... Pretty wild to think that commercial shoots could go this way in the near future as more and more cameras evolve to this level where print and motion collide.
