Canon 1D Mark IV First Video

Well, it has indeed been an interesting week. I consider myself so lucky to one of the first photographers in the world to be able to film on the new Canon 1D Mark IV. This is by far our busiest fall on record, and in all the craziness we managed to put together several filming opportunities to test out this magnificent camera.

How can I put this lightly... The 1D Mark IV is by far the finest camera we have ever held in our hands. I can say this without a second thought. Canon really raised the bar once again and unveiled new opportunities for photographers to dream.

Sometimes, we look for something over the top to capture. But most often the most beautiful things are right under our noses. This little film touches my heart. All I can think about when I watch it is how amazing it is that we can produce something so innocent and beautiful for mom's and dad's to enjoy wherever they are. Whether they are commuting on the train or jet setting for business to some far off place, now that our phones have video, they have become a connection that is more personal than ever. Some things you just can't replace. Hearing your child's laughter, seeing the way they walk at 2 years old, and seeing them come of age not only now but in 20 or 50 years is a priceless possession.

Why create films when we capture portraits? Why should parents think beyond the still image? I think I just said it, because our connections to our family should be as close as possible wherever we are. Enjoy...
