Natalia and Brian | Canon 1D Mark IV

We are finishing up several edits on short films we created over the 10 day period we had the Canon 1D Mark IV in our hands. We rendezvoused with a wedding copule, Natalia and Brian on the beach at Hammonasset State Park in Connecticut to capture the footage you see here.

The shoot was tough because we were working in 35 knot winds. Long Island Sound is generally flat, but as you can see the waves were rolling in. So, even with an expensive tripod we couldn't keep the camera perfectly still. But, the footage was gorgeous non-the-less. A lot off the footage was captured with a 70-200 2.8IS with a 1.4x Canon extender. The only other lens used was a Canon 24mm 1.4.

The Canon 1D Mark IV will be the next purchase for our studio without question. We've talked about the low light capabilities, but there is more to be said about how great it really is. There are images that this camera can capture that quite simply couldn't have been captured by yesterday's camera. It's by far the fastest and most accurate focusing system I've ever used in a still camera. Color and skin tones are second to none in my experience.

The slow motion footage that can be captured at 60p is remarkable. Add that to a Glidecam HD-4000 which is how we captured the slow motion footage you see here and you really have something that can't be touched by any other HDDSLR in the world.

Maring Visuals has been creating films with HD camcorders for years. But, now we are ramping up our coverage beyond events or weddings and creating portrait session films. It's nice that we can go beyond the still for our portrait clients and create all sorts of products for them to pass along to future generations. Keeping up with technology is getting more and more expensive, but the proof is in the pudding and we just can't live without being able to provide out clients with the best there is to offer. So, here we go again! We have our orders in.
