New Website

Maring Visuals has a brand new website that we launched last week, which allows visitors to access our website on all platforms, including mobile devices. Analytics shared that a lot of clients were trying to visit our site on the iPad and iPhone, so we knew it was time to move beyond Flash and build a new site with HTML5 elements.

We've been waiting for the perfect time to unveil Maring's evolution of storytelling ideas, and the new site was a perfect opportunity. Maring is now creating interactive stories for a wide range of clients by producing HTML5 websites along with interactive Apps for the iPad and Android marketplaces. These new apps blend Maring's gorgeous photography and motion picture content with text and design delivering new ways for companies to deliver their message creatively.

Interactive stories are perfect for both personal and commercial applications, so feel free to reach out to us to learn more about what we can create for your family, your wedding, or your company. Maring is "Storytelling Evolved", and we are excited about all the new projects that are coming to life.

Trees and Ink

We just wrapped up a short film called Trees and Ink, which is now entering post production. The film is a classic tale of money, betrayel, and life written by Khaled Quazz who is also the lead actor. Maring teamed up with Director Ethan Black again along with producer T.J. Collins of the New York Film Group to bring this film to life. Co-creating the scenes with DP Steven Glassner, we lit scenes with a wide variety of tools ranging from Profoto's incredible light shaping tools to DIY concepts that we had to think up on the fly. Filmed entirely on Canon DSLR's like the Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 1D Mark IV, we were able to work in all sorts of non-conventional ways on set. Check out a few screen grabs above captured from the footage. Trees & Ink will debut later in 2012 in multiple film festivals.

Lighting for Digital Filmmaking

I teamed up with Director Ethan Black and other cast and crew to produce some indie film shorts that will debut after the first of the year. This first of many films to come, "How to Break Up with Your Girlfriend", was shot in Brooklyn. It's been interesting to use my skills from a different perspective. Most of my career has been lighting to make sure my clients look their best. So, I am having fun lighting from the perspectives of mood and scene rather than just beauty and romance and playing the role of Director of Photography. Here's a few screen grabs from the video footage from our most recent independant film project. This was all captured on the Canon 5D Mark II. Now that digital cameras have qualities that directly compete with film, and are being accepted for television and hollywood productions, it's exciting to be pushing forward as a digital filmmaker. All of these scenes are lit with Profoto's newest Pro Air Daylight HMI and Pro Air Tunstens complimented by standard room lighting and paper lanterns as fill.

Scenes in NYC

Just a few scenes I filmed in New York Sunday evening on the Canon 5D Mark II. I love to get out and film on days when I am supposed to be off work. This passion always seems gets the best of me.

Manhattan Moves... A short film

So, I awoke early this morning and captured some time lapse footage of NYC, and created this short film in between a great fashion shoot and a wedding consultation today. Love my city, and it's fun to see it from this perspective. Manhattan Moves!
